Filed the last stop dedicated to the various national selections, FC Lugano Femminile is ready to get back on track with the National League B championship.
YOU RETURN TO THE FIELD LIKE THIS
To the appointment, they come after a markedly improved roster in this 2025: after cashing in two narrow defeats - both 1-2 - with Schlieren and Étoile Carouge, they split the stakes with Winterthur (2-2) and Küssnacht a/R (0-0) and finally overcame Oerlikon/Polizei (4-2) and Wil (2-1) with momentum. The first phase of the season, featuring 18 rounds, ended with the HCL girls in eighth place. With five wins, four draws and nine setbacks, the spoils won amounted to 19 points, three more than Solothurn and four more than Wil. The distance with the team ahead of them in the standings - Oerlikon/Polizei - is two points.
SEVEN FINALS TO SECURE THE CATEGORY
With Yverdon and Schlieren promoted to the tournament for ascension to the top league, the promotion-retrocession tournament will thus be a matter reserved for eight teams. The important thing to consider is that what has been achieved so far is being maintained, and at the end of the seven days - the first of which will take place in the small town of Küssnacht am Rigi in Canton Schwyz - the last two ranked teams will be forced to say goodbye to the category.
TWO BOMBERS LEAD THE PACK
The 20 goals scored so far are distributed among six players. Two of them - Anaïs Fragnito and Mathilda Andreoli - are the most prolific with, respectively, 7 and 6 personal centers. At 2 are Eleonora Castellani and Michelle Gigante, while 1 seal was registered by Sara Di Mauro and Claudia Fera. The missing one is an own goal.
PRESENTATION BY GIORGIO FRANSIOLI
The break served to catch your breath and prepare for the most important phase of the season. How do you evaluate these two weeks of approach?
"During the first week of the national team break, we modified our schedule a bit, training Monday through Thursday and giving the girls three days off so that they could recharge their physical and mental energy. Now, we have restarted with the usual weekly routine.".
And Sunday will begin the most important period of the season against an opponent with whom they won once (2-0 at home on Sept. 28, 2024) and drew the other (0-0 away last March 15)...
"The will is of course to continue with the positive results obtained recently. We will only be able to do this if we do not underestimate Küssnacht, an opponent with a solid foundation who has had an excellent first phase of the championship and against whom we have struggled in the two direct season clashes".
Four away and three home challenges await you in the span of a month and a half. In what way do you judge this small "disadvantage"?
"For us, even though we will take the field within our friendly walls one less time than we will do away from Ticino, absolutely nothing changes".
