One win and permanence in the National League B will be won. Easier said, of course, than done. FC Lugano Femminile, however, does not intend to leave anything to chance and, after brilliantly asserting itself in the last three official outings, against Solothurn will be looking for the three decisive points to keep their category.
DATE AND TIME TO CIRCLE ON CALENDAR
The date for the HCL girls' challenge is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Maglio in Canobbio. The No. 2 pitch will be the scene of the duel against relegation-bound Confederate opponents.
THE CURRENT SITUATION AND THE POSSIBLE SCENARIO
The group led by Giorgio Fransioli occupies the fifth position in the standings with 28 points, while the Solothurners are eighth with 16. When there are three rounds left in the season, this match could prove decisive for both. With a success, the Ticinese would be certain to retain their place in the second division. On the other hand, the Swiss-Germans have no room for error, as a defeat would condemn them to relegation.
Should there be a division of the stakes or a home setback, one will have to "cast" an eye on what will result from the duel between Küssnacht a/R and Wil, with the St. Gallen women seven lengths behind the underdogs and currently below the red line. A gap that, in order to secure early salvation, will need to be kept that way even after the final whistle blows.
THE SEASON RECORD "TO BE REDEEMED"
On paper, it looks like an easy match for Mathilda Andreoli and her teammates. Nothing, however, is a foregone conclusion. Especially considering the direct clashes in this championship. The first match, played on Aug. 17, 2024 in Cornaredo, saw Solothurn come out victorious in a comeback with a result of 3-1. The second, played on opposite fields on Nov. 16, ended in a draw (1-1).
PREVIEW CURATED BY COACH FRANSIOLI: "IT'S NOT DONE YET"
"I expect a very difficult game, even more complicated and challenging than the last ones played. We will have to give even more, keep our foot on the gas pedal to be able to celebrate at home with our fans. The unforgivable mistake we cannot make is to underestimate our opponents. Not least because, if we look back at the results of this season against them, we have little to say. It is not yet done".
