In their third official outing of the new calendar year, and after two similar setbacks not only in result but also in form, FC Lugano Women's won a proper home point in the face of Winterthur.
FOUR GOALS AND CONGRUOUS MAIL DIVISION
The challenge is approached quite positively by the HCL girls, intent on dribbling with the goal of finding the right distances. A mistake cost the guest goal, signed by Annina Enz (10′). The group did not break down and a great insertion from fullback by Sara Di Mauro (25′) restored parity. That turned into overturning the score thanks to Anaïs Fragnito (31′). After the break, the hosts found the ground again with the desire to register the third goal. They continued to work, creating several chances for themselves (a crossbar, in particular, denied the tris). Then, a somewhat faulty closing on the left cost the two to two, with a conclusion by Elena van Niekerk hitting the post before entering the goal (70′). In conclusion, two to two is a result to be considered fair.
ONE MORE POINT, BUT STILL IN THE LAST RANK
This third division of the stakes increases the season haul by one, bringing it to 12. The position in the standings is still 10th and last, while the distance to the direct opponents - Solothurn, Wil and Oerlikon/Polizei - moves to three lengths.
NOW TWO TRIPS TO THE BANKS OF THE LIMMAT
The next days, set for Saturday, March 15 and Saturday, March 22, will take the Lugano women to Canton Zurich to face Küssnacht a/R (kickoff at 8 p.m.) and Oerlikon/Polizei (kickoff at 6:30 p.m.), respectively.
COACH FRANSIOLI'S ANALYSIS: ""LET'S HIT" EVEN MORE ON THE ROCK"
"This is the game of awareness. If we were biting our fingers after the first two because of the way they developed, the one against Zurich showed that we are there and that the results are coming. We have to be even hungrier and, metaphorically speaking, "hit" even harder on the rock and score points upon points. Between now and the end of the first phase we have some small finals ahead of us.".
